Marvell Delivers a Turnkey, Energy-Saving Solution for Lighting Manufacturers
Marvell (News - Alert) Semiconductor is offering the “first mass-manufacturing-ready” 40- and 100-watt-equivalent parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) light-emitting-diode (LED) retrofit lamp reference designs—which will enable manufacturers to reduce time-to-market while delivering high performance at a low cost.
The new reference designs from Santa Clara, California-based Marvell feature LEDs from Cree of Durham, North Carolina.
Benefitting from rigorous pre-testing, a process that typically takes OEMs four to six months, these designs meet critical environmental and regulatory specifications, as well as safety requirements. Each reference design kit includes a fully assembled and tested demo board, along with applicable datasheets and application notes.
PAR lights are used in a wide range of applications, ranging from headlamps to recessed lights in commercial and residential buildings. Thanks to their design, PAR lights have mostly replaced ‘R’ lights (reflector-type lamps). PAR lights are installed inside PAR light cans. They are therefore difficult to replace. Replacements lamps such as LEDs are recommended for their long lifespan. The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting.
A U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) report estimates that, in 2010, the use of Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology in general lighting saved approximately 3.9 terawatt-hours (TW·h) of electricity—the same amount of energy used to power more than 250,000 U.Although this article shows that Cree's led lighting and Philips LED product sales are not equal it is important to note that Philips LED salesLED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios.S. homes. Moreover, 100 percent LED replacement by 2020 would save the amount of energy required for 32 million homes.
“Cree (News - Alert) is committed to driving the LED lighting revolution,” said Mike Watson, senior director of Marketing and Applications for the company. “The Marvell designs deliver excellent overall system performance with just four lighting-class XLamp XP-E High Efficiency White LEDs in the 40-watt-equivalent A19 design and just one XLamp MT-G in the 100-watt-equivalent PAR38 reference design. This efficient use of Cree LEDs, combined with Marvell's novel Digital Flyback LED Controller, can reduce overall system cost and accelerate the adoption of LED lighting.”
“Energy efficiency has long been a crucial focus at Marvell; we've been delivering bleeding-edge low-power solutions to various markets for more than a decade,” said Kishore Manghnani,It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing.Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb vice president of Green Technology Products Group at Marvell. “We understand the inherent challenges in designing the most efficient light bulb and are proud to support an industry leader like Cree to deliver a turnkey, energy saving solution for lighting manufacturers. I am confident we can deliver unparalleled, ecologically friendly solutions that will help combat unneeded energy waste.”

The jointly-developed 40- and 100- watt-equivalent LED lamp reference designs are based on Cree's XLamp XP-E and MT-G LED components, respectively; and Marvell's 88EM8081 Digital Flyback PFC Controller, with patented adaptive control-loop design and an innovative digital signal processing (DSP) solution. Built on industry-leading technology, these new reference designs enable manufacturers to recognize superior performance with the highest color consistency while reducing the bill of materials to lower overall system costs.
