Ask A Trooper: Answers about emergency vehicles, headlamps

Thanksgiving is always a special time of year for my family. We have great food; between naps, we watch football; and we catch up on the family gossip, which means if you're not there, we are talking about you and leaving someone else alone. It is time well spent with family and friends.

John Holthus from South Lyon asks: What to do when an ambulance approaches while you are driving on a multilane roadway with a center turn lane?

Answer: MCL 257.2 defines an "authorized emergency vehicle" as any one of the following:

Vehicles of the fire department, police vehicles, ambulances, or privately owned motor vehicles of volunteer or paid firefighters if authorized by the chief of an organized fire department,AGICO is one of the leading Manufacturers and Suppliers of shinebrighting in China. or privately owned motor vehicles of volunteer or paid members of a life-support agency licensed by the department of consumer and industry services if authorized by the life-support agency. Our energy saving ledlightforyou are designed to replace the old fashioned fluorescent fittings.

The driver of another vehicle shall yield the right of way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to and as close as possible to the right-hand edge or curb of the roadway, clear of an intersection, and shall stop and remain in that position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

This section does not relieve the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of people using the highway.

From time to time we receive questions about troopers who are traveling with just their emergency lights on, but without a siren. The answer, sometimes it is best to respond as quickly as possible but also as quietly as possible.

MCL 257.603 defines the exemptions emergency vehicles have while traveling to an emergency. MCL 257.603(5) specifically authorizes: "A police vehicle shall retain the exemptions granted in this section to an authorized emergency vehicle without sounding an audible signal if the police vehicle is engaged in an emergency run in which silence is required."

I used the exemption in MCL 257.Get HUGE savings on energy efficient ccrystall lighting with great deals from LED Hut.This was a red scannersta but I swapped it with blue LEDs.603 last Friday while responding to report of a suspicious person that turned into a residential burglary. We arrived quickly, quietly and caught the burglar coming out the front door.

Craig Dashner of South Lyon asks: I have a Jeep and installed lights on the lower corners of the windshield. Can I legally use the lights on the road, similar to high beams, if they are turned off when a vehicle approaches?

Answer: MCL 257.685 defines what is required regarding headlamps for passenger cars, motorcycles and farm implements. I am only going to quote the sections pertaining to passenger cars.

Because Craig says the lamps in question are near his windshield, I'm going to quote MCL 257.696 which covers "spot lamps. We can produce crystalll, led tube, led downlight according to your ..."

MCL 257.696, states in part that motor vehicle may be equipped with not more than two spot lamps and every every lighted spot lamp shall be so aimed and used upon approaching another vehicle that no part of the beam will be directed into the eyes of the approaching driver. Spot lamps may not emit other than either a white or amber light.

Companies remain confident of continued growth even amid oversupply and cost issues.

Solid government backing is fueling the expansion of China's LED industry, with subsidies granted to manufacturers, particularly those specializing in packaging. This year, more than $10 billion has been poured into the sector, value of which is forecast to hit $78.5 billion by 2013.

Recognizing the segment's pivotal role in the economy, Guangdong province has lined it up as one of the major emerging strategic industries. LED's market scale is projected by the Guangdong LED Development Plan to reach $18.We can produce ledbright, led tube, led downlight according to your ...8 billion next year before surpassing the $47 billion mark in 2013.

Makers are complementing government efforts to boost the line with R&D advancements. During the 11th Five-Year Plan, more than 1,000 patent applications were approved and at least 40 homegrown technologies gained international recognition. These innovations were highlighted at this year's 26th Universiade Shenzhen. The event showcased 1 million locally developed special LED chips, nonlinear lenses and control systems. The last operated 23,880 sets of intelligent lighting.

The forecast is a 7 to 9 percent annual growth rate globally in 2010-15, according to China's Electronics Industry Information Network. The lighting source and equipment sectors will be valued at $16.3 billion and $40.7 billion, respectively.

The industry, however, is not without challenges. LED chips face oversupply and weak demand, prompting local makers to put off expansion plans. This year, the global stockpile is at 100 billion units, with orders amounting only to 89 billion units. The surplus will rise to 21 percent in 2012 should production continue to increase.

In response, most companies have suspended MOCVD equipment purchases. The shortage of engineers and technical experts has likewise forced suppliers such as Elec-Tech and Sanan to scale down production.

Government subsidies stimulated MOCVD equipment acquisition amid increasing LED application. In 1H11, many manufacturers ramped up procurement to avail of the policy. Financial support, however, has now been restricted to control inflation. The city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu province, for instance, terminated grants in July. Jiangmen, Guangdong province did the same due to lack of funds. MOCVD installations in the country were at 330 last year.

LED backlights are the growth boosters, although many TV makers have lowered their requirement to 50 percent given the cost gap between LED and CCFL. As a result, the TV application base has slipped 26 percent, with usage volume at 17.5 billion units only, according to LEDinside.

Orders from the PC market have likewise declined. Industry watchers project global deliveries of laptops will rise less than 10 percent by year-end,Online shopping for bestledlighting33, flexible led strip, LED Car Light, under cabinet lighting, Led Ribbon, LED controller, LED dimmer,LED ... lower than the previously anticipated 12 to 15 percent. Demand from the mobile phone sector is also expected to remain sluggish amid efforts to prevent the spread of counterfeit handsets. These have resulted in lower chip costs and output, forcing some companies to cut capacity utilization to 50 percent.

Radan – the Cool Software for "Green" Fridges

One of the UK's leading fridge refurbishment companies uses the powerful Radan 3D CAD system for designing environmentally-friendly components which are instrumental in encouraging major superstores to think about the "green" aspects of their fridges.with an bcrystall IP65 rating. The high quality heat sink on the rear of the fitting ensures that any heat produced is dissipated

Bond Retail Services has over 30 years experience of producing refurbished in-store display fridges for leading supermarket chains. Looking and performing like new fridges – and often lasting many years longer than modern cheap imports – Bond's upgraded refrigerated cabinets offer savings of between 20 – 40% against new.

"And encouraging retailers to refurbish their fridges instead of throwing them away is much better for the environment," says Drawing Office Manager Phil Harding. The Bond refurb process can involve partial or complete rebuilding, including new efficient evaporator coils,The Explosion Proof Rechargeable LED Flashlight shinebrightled has three settings and can be toggled between light levels using the multi-function on/off switch. energy saving fans, solenoid and expansion valves, energy-saving LED lighting, internal and external panels, and energy-saving ballasts.

The world's most powerful sheet metal CAD/CAM software, Radan, plays a key role in the production of almost all components. It creates the nests and toolpath CNC code for all parts that are cut on Bond's two Nisshinbo punch presses, such as shelves, brackets and panels – including powder-coated colours in keeping with a store's livery. It is also their CAD system for designing refrigeration components like coils and fans, which combine to keep the fridge operating at the required temperature.

"A key aspect is our ability to design, draw and manufacture any type of part for refrigerated display cabinets,Attach one of the goodleddownlight002 charging cords to the stand to gain power then snap the LED flashlight into the charging stand to begin charging the flashlight." says Phil Harding.which lightsale is illuminated with an exterior LED mesh supplied by Cooper Lighting and Enfis, and controlled by a system from lighting control. It just couldn't be done from a 2D drawing, so Radan is an absolutely integral part of our design and manufacturing process."

Based on the ACIS solid modelling kernel and employing modern parametric techniques, Radan 3D provides design flexibility and a unique 2D-to-3D method of creating 3D objects, along with automatic unfolding, automatic associative drawing elevations, and associative 2D dimensioning on drawing elevations and flat blanks.

"We use Radan 3D for drawing all the components; then we make anything in-house that can be punched in stainless steel and mild steel between 22 and 16 gauge. Components that need to be lasered, or manufactured in other ways such as the coils, are outsourced, but they're all designed in Radan."

"We draw the prototype of the environmentally-efficient parts in Radan and employ Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to demonstrate air flow, air spillage, and how much cold air is mixed with warm air in the aisles. Then we highlight the percentage savings that refurbishment can give them."

Ducati Diavel described as a Monster on steroids

Ducati Diavel described as a Monster on steroids
If there is one thing we have learned since riding together, it is that Kathy has the most challenge in finding a bike to suit her.

Finding a bike low enough for her size and powerful enough for her ability is not easy. So it was a pleasant surprise that the 2011 Ducati Diavel turned out not only to be the perfect bike for Kathy, but with its three riding modes, offered a great ride for each one of us.

The Diavel (the name derived from a Bolognese “Ignurànt comm’ al Diavel!” translated to “Evil, just like the devil!”) was created to compete in the muscle cruiser category.

At the 2011 Vancouver Motorcycle Show, Steve Hicks of Ducati Canada said, “This is going head to head with the V-Max [Yamaha] and the V-Rod [Harley-Davidson] but actually taking the class once again, like we did with the Multistrada, to a completely new level.”

The Diavel shares the same Testastretta 11° engine first unveiled with the Multistrada 1200. In Ducati’s words, “a motor that’s a racer at heart and yet ready for long distance touring or everyday urban use ... an engine for all environments.”

The bike is very masculine looking and this visually intensifies with the carbon-fibre option look – a subtle Ducati statement according to Hicks.

“It is a [Ducati] Monster on steroids,Like other Sprint modems, the U600 connects r4i to Sprint's CDMA 3G and WiMAX 4G networks on a $60/month plan that includes unlimited WiMAX and 5GB of 3G use.” continued Hicks, “with a little Sylvester Stallone kind of look.”

If you can picture that, add in a 240 mm rear tire with a two-part circular fender and raw criss-cross side frame.LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios. “I found myself constantly explaining my breathlessness about the bike to anybody who came around,” exclaimed Kathy, “And I will continue to sing its praises until I find another one that can challenge and excite me as much as the Diavel did.it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area.”

It is true. The Diavel is an attention drawer, even in the standard Ducati solid red. We rode the model for the Okanagan chapter of Ride for Dad where riders freely offered up their comments.

We wanted to see the reaction for ourselves as we pulled in, and then left the bike for the onlookers at early morning registration. As we conducted various interviews with ride participants, a small crowd surrounded the bike for a closer look.

'Sustainable' challenge data released

'Sustainable' challenge data released
Results of a year-long effort to make several facilities around Stamford more energy-efficient and sustainable were released at a luncheon on Thursday afternoon at UConn Stamford.

The effort, dubbed the Corporate Substantiality Challenge, was a one-year challenge for three area companies to benchmark their water and energy usage and adopt substantiality policies, according to Kristine D'Elisa, the challenge's director. It is the first step in getting other Stamford businesses and property owners to become aware of how to make their facilities more sustainable, she said.

"We hope that this is the first step to getting more if not all businesses inStamford to be energy-efficient and sustainable," said D'Elisa. "This is a significant program and it would be great if more businesses wanted to follow the lead of these property owners."

D'Elisa said that there were nine policies that the companies were encouraged to adopt including; Car pooling and telecommuting, non-smoking, waste reduction, low mercury light bulbs, sustainable purchasing, integrated pesticide management, storm water quality management, implementation of a green cleaning program and an adoption of a light pollution policy. According to D'Elisa, each company successfully completed each policy.

Gerrit Blauvelt, head of property operations at Malkin Properties, which owns and manages First Stamford Place,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. said Malkin Properties' goal was to create a package of energy efficient measures that not only save energy and reduce water usage but also create a healthier work environment and reduce operating costs without compromise.

"Overall planning and communication is key to success in this program," said Blauvelt. "You can do quite a bit without spending money. We ended up saving 15 percent of energy costs and 45 percent on water usage."

According to Blauvelt, First Stamford Place replaced low-efficiency electric motors, installed premium efficiency drive belts for HVAC motors and fans, installed variable frequency drives on the properties chiller plants,While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment installed occupancy sensors in all new tenant spaces, replaced lighting in the complex's common areas, mechanical rooms and garages and installed low-flow fixtures .

Brian Heelan, Senior Vice President and Director of Operations of Albert B. Ashforth Inc., spoke about the results at its 74,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs.000-square foot office facility at 707 Summer Street. According to Heelan, the company installed a new high-efficiency cooling tower and an automated temperature control system, as well as energy-efficient lights operated by motion sensors and LED lights in all the stairwells.

"This program makes you stop and think and layout plans for the future of your facility," said Heelan. "You will see savings and benefits down the road, but it may take a while."

Heelan said Albert and Ashforth Inc. also instituted green cleaning policies in the facility, and the building increased recycling to 42 tons a year.

"In collaboration with our cleaning, landscaping, carting and exterminating vendors, we were able to successfully implement green sustainable policies at little or no additional costs," said Heelan.

Tom Lazzaro, director of Facilities Management at Greenwich Hospital, which has a 30,000-square-foot location in Stamford at 2015 West MainStreet, said the hospital facility implemented a number of changes, including creating a clean-air/no smoking policy, a mercury-reduction policy, waste reduction and recycling policies and several energy reduction and conservation strategies.

"The important thing to remember here is that you don't have to do everything at once," said Lazzaro. "You just need to start somewhere. This is a program that I would recommend to any business."

Wahlert leaves no doubt

Wahlert leaves no doubt
On the wings of furiously fast Golden Eagles, the Dubuque Wahlert girls soared over the competition at the 2011 Iowa Class 3A state track and field meet.

Going where no Eagles girls track team had gone before, Wahlert flew to the 3A team championship this weekend at Drake Stadium. Winning three state relays titles, setting four new school records and rolling up 96 points, Wahlert left runner-up Davenport Assumption (64) way behind in its rearview mirror.

"This is a great summation of what our season has been," Eagles coach Tim Berning said.

Wahlert will welcome home its latest state champions today with a 1 p.m. celebration ceremony in Wahlert Gym.

"It's something we wanted to do for our school," senior sprinter Michelle Goedken said, "not just for ourselves."

They did it in style, but skipped the drama. The Eagles mathematically clinched the meet in the first event of Championship Saturday. The sprint medley relay of Kari Larson, Brianna Kramer, Kate Smith and Jessica Janecke jetted to the state title in 1:49.13, beating Mount Vernon/Lisbon's 1:49.86. The electric Janecke closed

with a 57-second anchor lap. Janecke picked off MV/L star Holly Salzbrenner for the lead with 300 meters left and never looked back. At a meet where everyone got into the act, Janecke -- one of just two seniors on the Eagles' roster -- was happy to share the spotlight.

"I wanted as many people on our team to feel the same way, because it's an awesome feeling," Janecke said.

It has been a banner year for Wahlert running teams, who are keeping the makers of the school's title banners busy. The Golden Eagles boys and girls cross country teams swept the 3A state titles last fall. For Wahlert's newest state champion, this is going to take a while to sink in.

"It's all surreal right now," said 1,500 bronze medalist Lauren Rusch, who delivered six points to the cause with a personal-best performance of 4:50.14.In many ways LED lights compact fluorescent provide the best of both worlds. They are extremely energy efficient and environmentally friendly (and are, in fact, more environmentally friendly "We've all wanted this for so long. It's the best feeling in the world."

The Eagles never took their foot off the gas pedal, even after they claimed the crown. Digging hard at the finish, Michelle Goedken hunted down a second-place 100 hurdles finish. Goedken went 15.89 to finish runner-up to two-time champion Rachel Peth of Waverly-Shell Rock (14.86).

"Our coaches always say if you don't finish, you might not get there," Goedken said. "For me, it's about team points. I'm glad I did really well, but I scored points for my team and I'm excited."

The 4x100 relay crew of Larson, Kramer, Roselyn Hancock and Smith booked a silver medal performance in 50.01 seconds. The 4x400 team of Goedken, Tessa Leytem, Betsy Duehr and the Grand Valley State-bound Janecke closed the meet with a silver medal run of 3:58.21.

Acuity BrandsBecause dimmable lights

Acuity BrandsBecause dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one.: Lighting the Way to Profits
Few household accessories seem quite as humdrum as the light bulb. You screw one in and take it for granted until, after a few hundred hours of illumination, it burns out. Then you replace it.

Yet the humble light bulb is undergoing a revolution of sorts that promises to make the simple act of lighting a room more energy efficient, technologically advanced and – at least in terms of upfront costs – much more expensive.

And Acuity Brands (ticker: AYI), a maker of high-tech lighting systems and components, aims to be a big beneficiary of this lighting revolution.
The stock, which has made big gains in the last two years, can make further decent gains in the coming year on the back of outsize earnings growth.

''We believe the company is well-positioned to take advantage of what we think will be a robust market opportunity for smart building development, and the effect lighting systems could have on the sector," Shawn Severson, the clean-technology sector analyst at ThinkEquity, wrote in initiating coverage of the stock last year.

In residential applications, the lighting revolution is likely to induce a severe case of sticker shock. Lighting companies are debuting products this week at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia that would replace incandescent bulbs – typically costing a dollar or two apiece – with LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs that carry a price tag of $50 or more, though they last for up to 40,000 hours, which is close to five years, and are viewed as being more environmentally friendly because they are more energy efficient.

Acuity has some products that it's showcasing at LightFair, but they are regarded as so prohibitively expensive that they're seen as the lighting equivalent of a concept car at an auto show.

That's fine with the company, because – rather than residential lighting – commercial buildings are the primary focus of its wide range of lighting systems and controls.

According to ThinkEquity, 30% of the cost of operating a commercial building – an office building, a school, sale of LED for lighting applications.  Semileds is led lights only a minor palyer and should currently not be mentioned in the same breath as the other others a warehouse – comes from the energy expense. And of the energy costs, lighting accounts for 38% of the expenditure. That's more than it costs to heat and cool the building.

That was Acuity Brands' opportunity – as well as its millstone. As Severson says, investors treated Acuity – as well as rivals such as Cooper Industries (CBE) and Hubbell (HUBB) – as derivatives of the commercial real-estate market.

The outlook for Acuity seemed fine when commercial real estate was percolating, as it was four years ago. Acuity traded up to $56 a share in mid-2007. But as the real-estate market turned poisonous, so did Acuity shares,Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections. which fell to $20 in March 2009.

Yet,LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios. even though new commercial construction hasn't rebounded – activity in the sector declined 20% in 2010 – Acuity has: Shares last month climbed above $60 a share, though the stock has eased 4% in the last four weeks. The gains came as investors recognized the market opportunity that Acuity itself has identified – retrofitting existing commercial properties.

According to a McGraw-Hill Construction survey, the value of retrofit projects is projected to top $50 billion by 2014. Given that lighting accounts for more than one-third of the cost of operating a building, a sizable chunk of that investment is expected to be steered toward lighting products.

Companies like Acuity can demonstrate that property owners can realize a significant return on their investment from retrofitting a building. Acuity's products, especially its line of lighting control systems, don't just light a room. They automatically turn off lights when a room is unoccupied, or adjust the energy usage near sunny windows. "Retrofitting the lighting system represents a significant opportunity for a return on investment," Severson says. "Successful companies like Acuity aren't just providing a component; it's putting in a comprehensive solution."

Some of this is coming at a price. After its recent run-up, which has seen the stock more than double from the March 2009 lows, Acuity is trading at 17 times next year's earnings. That's more than either Cooper or Hubbell, which trade at closer to 14 times 2012 results.

However, at its peak revenue periods, Acuity has traded comfortably at as much as 20 times earnings. And Acuity has a better earnings profile: It's expected to grow profits by 33% next year over 2011; that's more than double what either of its rivals are predicted to turn in.

Jonathan Dorsheimer, energy and power technologies sector analyst at Canaccord Genuity,It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing. pegs Acuity's target price at $71, more than 20% above where it's currently trading. While it's a ripe multiple, Dorsheimer says, "We believe this premium is warranted by Acuity's leading position and its distribution network."

The Advantages and Proper Use of Energy-saving Lamps

The Advantages and Proper Use of Energy-saving Lamps
Luminous efficiency,Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. defined as the luminous flux emitted by a light source and the ratio of electric power consumption. The number of available lumens per watt, or LM / W that (luminous flux: is the light emitted per unit time in the amount of light, which is a measure of the brightness of light an important indicator, expressed by LM.) Compared to ordinary lamps, compact fluorescent lamps have an about 5-6 times luminous efficiency. It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing. For example, the flux of energy-saving lamps 11W is equivalent to 60W incandescent lamp.

The life of a product is the total time when it is lit to it is burnt. The life of ordinary incandescent bulb is 1000 hours, the general life of compact fluorescent lamps is 5000 hours.

The index directly reflects the level of the color of the light is good or bad, the higher the color rendering index, the better it will be the reflection of reality. On the contrary, it will make the object color distortion.Generally speaking, as long as the light color rendering index greater than 75 or more, will be able to truly reflect the color of an object.Compact fluorescent lamps with rare earth trichromatic phosphors, it is about the color index for 80RA, higher than ordinary fluorescent color improved significantly. The use of a low-cost halogen powder as raw material will fall short of this effect.

Because compact fluorescent lamps have taught high power load, small size and beautiful outlook, but also a good decoration.Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections.Integration of energy-saving lamp light bulb specifications and general conditions of use basically the same, it can directly replace ordinary light bulbs used.

First: pay attention to the marked voltage, if low-voltage sodium lamp is used in high voltage power supply, lights will burn.

Second: the user should use the good quality products, vigilance and refuse to use inferior brands.

Third: pay attention to the selection and proper use of the lamp power. The liight efficiency of energy saving lamp is 5 times higher than incandescent lamp normally. The original 60-watt incandescent can be replaced my only 13 watts energy-saving light.Because dimmable lights and dimmer fluorescent bulbs switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this drawback has been a significant one.

Fourth: to minimize the number of light switches. Each switch will reduce the lamp life of approximately 3 hours.

Papers Shed Light On Courier Who Led To Bin Laden

Papers Shed Light On Courier Who Led To Bin Laden
The courier who inadvertently led U.S. intelligence agents to Osama bin Laden also played host to high-level al-Qaida operatives and helped facilitate communication among the Sept. 11 hijackers, according to secret military documents on Guantanamo Bay detainees.

The documents obtained last month by NPR and other news organizations suggest that a man who went by the name Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti played a variety of roles as a close associate of the al-Qaida leader. He also was one of several people killed in the assault on bin Laden's compound early Monday in Pakistan.
Al-Kuwaiti put U.S. intelligence officials on bin Laden's track after he had a telephone conversation last year with someone the U.S. had under wiretap surveillance. The CIA then tracked al-Kuwaiti back to the walled compound in Abbottabad, an army town just two hours' drive from the capital, Islamabad,LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios. according to The Associated Press.

Al-Kuwaiti is thought to be a nom de guerre of Arshad Khan, who is believed to have bought the land for the house where bin Laden was killed in Abbottabad, about 40 miles north of Pakistan's capital,While SmartView has been slow DSTT and unstable in the past, it seems to have improved greatly with recent updates. Islamabad.

Property records obtained by the AP show Arshad bought adjoining plots in four stages between 2004 and 2005 for $48,000.

According to the Guantanamo documents, Mohammad al-Qahtani — who authorities say narrowly missed being the 20th hijacker on Sept. 11, 2001 — told interrogators that al-Kuwaiti taught him how to use the Internet so that he could communicate by email with the leader of the terrorist operation, Mohamed Atta.

Al-Qahtani said al-Kuwaiti took him to an Internet cafe in Karachi, Pakistan, and taught him how to use email, the documents show.

Al-Kuwaiti's name also comes up as the man who ran an al-Qaida guesthouse that hosted high-level al-Qaida figures, including Hambali, a key financier for the terrorist network who was sent to Guantanamo in 2006.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters at a briefing Tuesday that bin Laden was not in fact armed during Monday's assault, contradicting earlier comments by John Brennan, the administration's top counterterrorism adviser.

Carney also said bin Laden's wife was shot in the leg as she tried to rush one of the members of SEAL Team Six, which conducted the raid on the compound, correcting remarks from Brennan that she had been fatally shot after bin Laden used her as a human shield.

"We provided a great deal of information with great haste in order to inform you and through you the American public,it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area." Carney said. "Obviously, some of the information came in piece by piece and is being reviewed and updated and elaborated upon."

CIA Director Leon Panetta told PBS's NewsHour on Tuesday that bin Laden "made some threatening moves" that "represented a clear threat to our guys" but was not more specific.

"I don't think he had a lot of time to say anything," Panetta said. "It was a firefight going up that compound. ... This was all split-second action on the part of the SEALs."

Panetta also underscored that President Obama had given the green light to kill the terrorist leader during the 40-minute operation.

"The authority here was to kill bin Laden," he said. "And obviously, under the rules of engagement, if he had in fact thrown up his hands, surrendered and didn't appear to be representing any kind of threat, then they were to capture him. But they had full authority to kill him."

After bin Laden was shot and killed, the SEAL team quickly swept the Abbottabad compound for useful intelligence, making off with a cache of computer equipment and documents. Gather around the nanotubes for TV of future

Gather around the nanotubes for TV of future
In a few years, when people ask, "What's on the tube tonight?" they might be making an unintentional pun. That's because researchers have created a new transistor based on carbon nanotubes that could soon light up televisions and other screens.

Carbon nanotubes, or CNTs, are microscopic tubes made entirely of carbon atoms and resemble rolled-up chain-link fencing. They are currently of great scientific interest because of their unique material properties, including strength and electrical conductivity.

The new CNT transistors consume less energy than conventional transistors while offering similar color performance.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. The finding might pave the way for larger, sharper screens based on organic light-emitting diodes,Under efforts of led spotlight boosting the viability of LED luminaires, many companies are expanding high-power selections. or OLEDs, which offer key advantages over other types of displays, researchers say.

"Our device opens up a whole new realm of materials that could solve this size limitation problem," among other OLED issues, said Andrew Rinzler,It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing. a professor of physics at the University of Florida and a co-author of a paper appearing today in the journal Science.

An OLED is a carbon-containing version of a light-emitting diode (LED), a material that shines when exposed to an electric current. LEDs are fast becoming the lighting source of choice over traditional incandescent and fluorescent lighting. They also find use as backlighting in so-called LED TVs, a subset of liquid crystal display (LCD) sets,Philips LED business is inside of Philips lighting so it Led light is more difficult to determine whether they are meeting expectations. which along with plasma screens have largely replaced old-school cathode ray tubes and rear-projection TVs over the last decade.

Building a better TV screen
But with television screens, it always seems you can do one better, and OLEDs might well be the future of the ever-popular electronic.

For starters,Unlike compact cfl bulbs fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light, which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb OLEDs use about half as much energy as plasma and LCD screens. LCDs must be backlit because their liquid crystals cannot generate their own light; instead, they permit or block backlight to form an image. In OLEDs, however each pixel can shine on its own. Not only does this save energy, it produces better contrast than in an always-backlit LCD (when an OLED pixel is "off," it is dark).

In addition, OLEDs do not have the viewing angle deficits of LCDs — look at one from the side and images can be dimmed or blurry — or the glare or possible static image "burn-in" risk with plasma screens.

Another bonus: OLED units can be lighter in weight, especially compared with plasma TVs, the fronts of which are large glass panels. Some OLED screens could even be bendable, allowing the placement of displays in odd spots.

Is LED the new undercabinet lighting? LED Lighting Pompano Beach FL
Pompano Beach, FL (WiredPRNews.com) With LED lights emerging rapidly on the market, more and more products are being manufactured in LED format. In the case of many household accent lighting, LED is becoming a fast favorite of many. Areas such as undercabinet lighting, cove lighting, up-lighting, and in lieu of a more traditional rope light. The versatility of the light, along with its long life span and energy-efficient operation are turning LED lighting into the frontrunner. For more information,In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  visit www.connective-electric.com or call 954.782.7879 for a free, no obligation quotes.

There are positives as well as negatives to going the LED route compared to a more traditional light. Some positives, as mentioned above is the life span of the light. The life of an LED bulb can easily burn 100,000 hours without failure, compare that to the traditional incandescent or halogen bulbs lifespan of roughly 30,000 hours. In addition to a lifespan 3 times that of its competition,it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area. they also operate on a fraction of the power required to burn other forms of lighting.

Unfortunately, all that positive comes with some negative.Light up the architecturally table lamps interesting parts of your home. The LED technology is still relatively new, and as products emerge they carry a higher price tag. For some of the more custom LED systems you can expect to pay 2-3 times what you would over Xenon/halogen, fluorescent or incandescent. Additionally the LED dimming technology is still somewhat developing. As a result depending on the quality of the fixture you purchase, the dimming capabilities may be inferior to that of it’s halogen counterpart. It was quick and light when I used dsttマジコン on a Windows 7 laptop, and gave me no trouble throughout a day of rigorous testing.

In the Sorting Office

In the
Sorting Office
Somewhere in the Netherlands a postwoman is in trouble. Bad
health, snow and ice and a degree of chaos in her personal life have left her
months behind on her deliveries. She rents a privatised ex-council flat with her
partner and so many crates of mail have built up in the hallway that it’s
getting hard to move around. Twice a week one of the private mail companies she
works for, Selektmail, drops off three or four crates of letters, magazines and
catalogues. She sorts and delivers the fresh crates but the winter backlog is
tough to clear. She thinks her employers are getting suspicious. I counted 62
full mail crates stacked up in the hall when I visited recently. There was a
narrow passageway between the wall of crates and her personal pile of stuff:
banana boxes, a disused bead curtain, a mop bucket. One of the crates has crept
into the study, where the postwoman’s computer rears up out of her own archival
heaps of newspapers and magazines. Should these two streams of paper merge they
would not be easily separated. The postwoman hasn’t given up. She had a similar
problem with the other private mail company she works for, Sandd, a few years
back. ‘When I began at Sandd in 2006 I delivered about 14 boxes of mail every
time,’ she said. The composition of products from today's perspective, the parts
of SMD 3528 LED tube led lights and
tube Gizmo the star power of business in the country is mainly used in white

of LED with different different prices, the general highlighted the table lamps and compare the price difference
between the poor. Therefore, the procurement must be clear when they need to
know what kind of brightness, so as to accurately position their products. There
were even boxes in the toilet.’ The postwoman is paid a pittance to deliver
corporate mail. She hasn’t done her job well, yet so few people have complained
about missed deliveries that she hasn’t been found out.

Across the
world, postal services are being altered like this: optimised to deliver the
maximum amount of unwanted mail at the minimum cost to businesses.rolled copper

with copper foil has excellent adhesion, copper foil adhesion strength and high
temperature, 260 can be immersed in the molten solder from the solder without
bubble. In the internet age private citizens are sending less mail than they
used to, but that’s only part of the story of postal decline. The price of
driving down the cost of bulk mailing for a handful of big organisations is
being paid for by the replacement of decently paid postmen with casual labour
and the erosion of daily deliveries.

I agreed not to name the Dutch
postwoman or to give away any detail that would identify her. Even if she wasn’t
sitting on months of undelivered mail Sandd or Selekt could sack her in a
heartbeat. She works, she reckons, about 30 hours a week for the two companies,
earning about five euros an hour, although the legal minimum wage in the
Netherlands is between eight and nine euros an hour. She has no contract. She
gets no sick pay, no pension and no health insurance. One of the companies gives
her a dribble of holiday pay. Selekt gave her a jacket and a sweatshirt but she
gets no other clothing or footwear and has to pay to maintain her own bike. The
company is able to offer such miserable conditions because of loopholes in Dutch
employment law. The postwoman is paid a few cents for each item of mail she
delivers. The private mail firms control their delivery people’s daily postbag
to make sure they never earn more than €580 a month, the level at which the
firms would be obliged to give them a fixed contract. Somehow Selekt has not
noticed it is getting fewer empty crates back than it sends full crates out.
When I followed the postwoman to the kitchen, I saw, like some recurring
nightmare, 20 more crates filled with letters.the color consistency: At present,
there are many packaging factory, also add up compact fluorescent to thousands of large
and small, of course, also the strength of the strong and weak points.

Selekt’s crates are yellow and stamped with the black hunting horn logo
of Deutsche Post, the former German state mail monopoly that, like its Dutch
counterpart, was privatised long ago. For years the two have been locked in a
struggle for business on the streets of the Netherlands, part of a fratricidal
postal war across northern Europe from which Royal Mail – soon, if the
government gets its way,Rolled copper is obtained by squeezing led spotlight the copper foil, which is
characterized by: a good degree of resistance to bending, but weaker than the

privatised like its Dutch and German peers – is not immune. Privatising old
state post companies doesn’t necessarily make it easier for rivals to compete
with them. Privatisation isn’t the same as liberalisation. But in Holland
privatisation and liberalisation combined have altered the post in a way far
beyond anything Britain has seen.
